Passports and Visas

It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure they hold a valid passport and travelling documents (visas etc.) and comply with the entry, exit, transit or other requirements of the countries they are travelling to. Passengers may be refused entry into a country if they do not possess the required travel documents. Ferry operators will not be liable in any way for any consequences arising out of your not having the required or valid travel documents.

Passport: Your passport or travelling document must be valid at least six (6) months after the date of entry.

Visa on Arrival (VOA)

The following nationalities are eligible for Visa On Arrival:


Visa Fee

The Visa fee is USD 35 for up to 30 days stay in Indonesia. Please make sure you have the following

documents ready before applying for VOA:

1. Passport with a minimum of 6 months' validity and contains at least one unused visa page for visa-on-arrival sticker 2. Fill in the Arrival/Departure card

3. Return or outward journey ticket

4. Prepare the exact amount in USD for payment of VOA fees to ensure a smooth application process

Indonesian travelling to Singapore

If you are holding an Indonesian Passport and are visiting for social reason, visa is not required.

However, you are required to go through immigration clearance upon arrival into Singapore and must satisfy the following basic requirements:


• A passport with at least 6 months validity • Sufficient funds to last for the intended period of stay in Singapore

• Confirmed outward/return tickets • Entry facilities to their onward destinations e.g. Visas

• Completed disembarkation/embarkation card

Please note that you are only allowed to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days without visa and for leisure purpose only. If you are going to Indonesia for business purpose, you are advised to apply for a business visa.

How to get there?

By Bus: Service no 10, 30, 61, 97, 100, 131, 143, 145 & 166 Depending on your destination (South, West, Central, North, East) there are Bus Stops at either the Seah Im Road Bus Terminal, which is located opposite to the HarbourFront Centre or in front of the HarbourFront Centre.

By Mrt Train: The HarbourFront Station sits on the North East Line (NEL), which starts/ends at HarbourFront Centre. The train gives you easy and quick access to tourist attractions at Chinatown, Clarke Quay and Little India. If you wish to travel to the airport, take the train North from HarbourFront, and then change trains from the NEL to the East West Line (EWL) at Outram Stations. Outram Station is just one stop away from the HarbourFront Station. The train journey to the airport takes about 40-50 minutes from HarbourFront, with transfers at Outram Station (NEL to EWL) and Tanah Merah (EWL to Airport) station respectively.

Is Batam bigger than Singapore?

Batam is the largest city in the province of Riau IslandsIndonesia. Batam Municipality covers 3,990 km²,

of which 1,040km² is land, a figure which includes some land reclamation, therefore is bigger than Singapore, but Singapore has a bigger population.

Do you need a visa for Batam Island?

For short visit, passports from 169 countries can enter Indonesia at Batam Harbour Bay Terminal for 30 days without a Visa. This includes guests from Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, india, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, UK, the United States, and Vietnam.


If you do need a Visa, you can obtain a Visa On Arrival (VOA) at Harbour Bay Terminal or other Ferry Terminals in Batam.

It is valid for a maximum stay of 30 (thirty) days, and is given to citizens from countries that can apply VOA for leisure visit to Indonesia. Please refer to this Indonesia Ministry of Tourism website for the list of countries that can apply for VOA in Indonesia.

Is Batam safe?

Batam is generally safe during the daytime hours, but at night if you are in the entertainment areas of Nagoya you should exercise caution and avoid walking alone in places that are less crowded.
